Can’t decide about wedding jewelry…?
So I bought a necklace earring set for my wedding. Its beautiful, but the clasp for the necklace is odd. I had never seen it before:

I can’t decide whether to send it back and get a new set or keep it. What do you think?

Also, has anyone had a necklace with that type of clasp before? How well did it hold?
tabuler- That’s the problem! It doesn’t push in! I’ve tried and tried and it just doesn’t work! So I don’t know if the clasp is defective or if that’s just how its suppose to be!

This is a classic and traditional clasp for pearls jewellery and holds really well.
You will probably see on closer inspection that there are a few parts on the round piece for the hook to thread through.
One will allow you to turn the hook so that the pointy knubs on the ends of the hook just miss the edge of the round bit of the clasp.
When you have found this threading point the hook will push in easily and lock in place.
If it is really hard to push together you either have the hook threaded through the wrong place or a defective clasp (in which case you would exchange it for another identical set with no problems)

Cheap engagement rings/wedding sets?
Does anyone know of any websites or stores that sell discount engagement rings or wedding sets? I would still like the jewelry to be real and not of poor quality. We are trying to but a house, and would just like to have something kind of temporary, but that still looks nice and has a real diamond. Share your secrets! Thanks in advance.

Now it’s on sale for $999. It’s a great quality ring. I’ve had many compliments on it, and I love it! It’s also a really great price for that ring.
My husband got his ring at Gordon’s Jewelers for $299. It is a Tungsten Ring, so no engravings because it can’t be scratched. If you like the idea of his ring not scratching, I definitely recommend getting this ring. Here is the link for that one:

Settle This Disagreement About Wedding Jewelry?
My fiance and I have been disagreeing about what jewelry is associated with an engagement and a wedding. The way I understood it, there was the engagement ring, and a set of two wedding rings, called wedding bands, one for the bride and one for the groom. The engagement ring and the brides wedding ring can be bought as a set and made to fit together, although this is not necessary. My fiance insists that there is first the engagement ring, and then the wedding band, which is sold as a set with the 2 wedding rings, and that the wedding band and the wedding ring are made to fit together on the woman’s hand, seperate from the engagement ring. Please explain to us what is correct, and, if possible, give a credible website with the information listed so that whoever is wrong can clearly see what is correct. Thanks.

The wedding ring and band are interchangeable terms. It is a ring because it goes around the finger, it is a band style ring because it has no stone. Therefore it is common to purchase 2 wedding rings/bands one for the husband and one the wife. The wife then wears hers with her engagement ring. This makes a total of 3 rings, 2 for the wife, 1 for the husband. The woman might have her wedding ring(band) made to fit with the engagement ring. Here is an excerpt from Wikipedia.

Another practice holds that the woman should wear the wedding ring above the engagement ring, thus sealing the atmosphere of the engagement into the marriage. How should I sell my wedding jewelry from a previous marriage?
I am still holding onto my wedding set from a marriage that ended 6 years ago. It is not what you would call an up-to-date set. It’s not very modern. It is two rings, one is an engagement ring and one is a plain band. Both are yellow gold, and the engagement ring contains several diamonds totaling 1ct. It’s not worth too much…I know that. I just don’t want to get a ridiculously low amount for it. I think that’s why I held on to it. I can’t “trade-up” because it came from Service Merchandise, which is now out of business. Any suggestions to getting a decent, or fair, price for this set?
