Cracked Crystals

Hi..I am new to crystals and have just gotten a green adventurine pyramid. It has a crack that I can see and feel… Will this adversely affect its energy in a grid?

Thank you.

  • Not necessarily. I met such a crystal that let me know in no uncertain terms that it didn’t not wish to be used for healing and that it would have to be buried so it could be healed. I respected its wishes.

Oh I do not doubt that at all. To me that would be potentially from a crystal cracking during a healing session or from being dropped, etc.. and not necessarily the way it came out of the Earth. Naturally occurring cracks are just part of the growth process for some.

I totally agree that not all imperfect/damaged crystals should be worked with but I also do not believe that all of them are unworthy (so to speak) of working with them in a healing fashion. There are plenty of “perfect” looking crystals out there that also need to be put back into the earth. Just like us, there are plenty of “imperfections” that do not meet the physical eye.

  • Hi, I’m new here, but I might be able to help. I have worked with crystals for a long time and I’m no expert… but in answer to your ?  in my experience, the vibration of any crystal with a fracture or inclusion can be affected. Whether its an inclusion like a twin, a hole, or water it will have its own energy naturally added to the crystal as it grows, so it will be balanced naturally to its own rhythm. The type of healing or work you plan on doing can be tailored to the vibe of the crystal. If you try to use one that has a crack, a break, or anything not created during growth, it might not necessarily affect your work negatively, but it CAN affect the quality of energy and balance it puts out. Faults, cracks, breaks, inclusions, all alter the vibration and affect the way it should or should not be used.

Just be careful and attentive to the energy while you work. Hope this helps : )  Have a blessed day!

  • Although they are beautiful, I would probably not used a cracked crystal for healing purposes.
  • I have found that you can heal the crystal… Inclusions in some of the crystals are quite powerful.
  • I on the other hand often find cracked and chipped crystals to be among the most effective healing stones . Unless we are perfect people, we do not seem to require perfect crystals and in both people and crystals, experience often amplifies wisdom and power.
  • Sorry I’m a Virgo in a relentless pursuit of perfection. :)

I believe that a crack severs the energy of the crystal and divides it.

  • What about crystal wands ? I have a prana crystal with the the tip broken. Does that affect its efficacy ?

thanks

  • I believe it can, yes. This is not to say you won’t accomplish the healing process but I think the energy may be less focused. The purpose of having a crystal point is just that. Tumbled crystals behave differently. If it can affect the functioning of a timepiece I think it can affect the way the healing is projected. Nonetheless, I am sensing that you have strong innate healing abilities and that the chip in this point won’t drastically inhibit the energy flow.
  • Do YOU find that it effects its efficacy? If you don’t find that it does, then it doesn’t. If you have worked with it for a long time, then it probably understands you and vice versa. If it works for you, don’t worry about what other people think. Continue to do what you’re already doing successfully.
  • Being this or being that doesn’t matter. It’s what you (as the authority) thinks/believes. Marilyn has the approack that we all sometimes (a lot of times) forget. We are the authority! Hopefully that is becoming real for billions of people around this planet who are occupying this and that. Let’s start our own movement; Occupy your own mind!

Remind me of that please.

  • I’m a Gemini with Sag rising in relentless pursuit of versatility, adaptability and evolution, my experience differs. We are both correct in our own needs and Practice. Spirituality and healing power has no absolute limits.
  • I agree with what you say about limits. :) I have Aries rising and a cancer moon.

My ex was a Gemini with Virgo rising. Although our approaches differed, we often came to the same conclusion. Of course, I was the straight A student and he wasn’t… but there’s something to be said for the ability to focus on many things at once.

  • I work with cracked/imperfect crystals all the time. I feel their energy and know if it is positive or negative. To me, a cracked or broken crystal doesn’t look as good but the energy from some of these are great!

Two things I have noticed however in regards to clear quartz:
1) The clearer the crystal, the stronger its energy
2) Polished quartz seem to be much weaker than the raw quartz

About amethyst: The darker the stone, the stronger its energy.

  • Charlene, do you believe this regardless of how the crystal incurred the crack (i.e. during it’s natural growth or once it started being altered by man)?

Rainbows in crystals often times are caused by “imperfections” such as cracks inside the crystal. Do you think the beauty of the Rainbow would really reflect itself in something “imperfect” like that? Just curious.

  • As a logical person I tend to err on the side of caution. I would feel bad if a cracked crystal caused one of my clients to feel more pain and suffering than before they came to me. Not having been here 20000 years ago, perhaps the crystal could have suffered a trauma that affected it’s ability to transmit healing in a focused manner. I am not saying that cracked crystals are not aesthetically beautiful or have their own merit and I do believe there can be great beauty in imperfection.

As one who has seen the Hope diamond with its many cracks inclusions and discolorations, I can truthfully say that is one crystal I wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole, let alone use it on a client.

  • With all due respect, and it isn’t said to cast blame but only to acknowledge a reality, your decision that it will or might harm your patient-client is more likely to do so that any flaw in a crystal.

What we consider a flaw is often a sign of strength. That fracture offers potential for a redirection, or refocus, of the energy channeled, and what we consider a flaw might add rather than detract. Not saying this must be the case, but that we must re-evaluate our own prejudices and determine whether or not they are there because they are real, or if they are imposed by habits in thinking or societal impositions.
The scars on my body do not determine that I am weak and incapable of this or that, they signal that I have survived massive physical damage. This can be seen as a strength, or as a weakness depending on perspective.

There are scars that can’t be seen with the eye, those have as much bearing on the ability or value of a stone.
Learn to use your inner sight so you can see for yourself… you might be surprised at what you find, and it will only improve your own abilities

  • Might not a crystal that has “suffered” trauma in it’s growth actually be more tuned into a clients “suffering and trauma” to better be able to assist in healing such things? Just another thought to put out there for you.

Also, you could try working with an “imperfect” crystal yourself (on yourself) even just meditating with it to see what the crystal has to offer you. Not working with them, you may actually be missing out on truly beneficial energies that each “imperfect” crystal has to offer.

  • I personally am drawn to damaged crystals and tend to feel that it is my obligation to buy them and give them a loving ‘home’. I find that I have a relationship with my crystals so I find a beauty and energy trapped within all of them. I think give the cracked crystal some healing then see how it works on yourself. The proof is in the pudding.

As I do Reiki I very much feel that intent is a powerful tool that can be used equally effectively with crystals, so in a sense you will get back what you believe from a damaged crystal. It is like most things an individual choice.

  • I don’t think any of us are declaring an absolute. Indeed I have encountered crystals who wish to retire and I respect that. Learning to open your intuition is important,  because what is the correct practice changes according to the situation..
  • Actually I get this sense, that energy from a chipped tip is diffused rather than sharp, which is actually safer when done by newbie. Experienced practitioners can manage the intensity of a sharp projection of healing energy.

Overall I’m happy with this crystal.
