Hello, I am Brenda, from Western NC. I have been working with stones and crystals for several years, but do not know near what I would like to know about their amazing properties, so hoping to share and learn from this site.
I recently had a negative effect from an amethyst crystal, in that I got severe chest pain and anxiety (not normally an anxious person in the least) while holding a newly acquired amethyst. It took me a while to realize the stone was what was causing the problem. I cleansed it, then started experimenting with being in proximity of it, and the discomfort returned rapidly each time. Since I fully recognize the POSITIVE impact stones can have, I wasn’t overly surprised to realize they could have a negative impact as well, so I would appreciate if you can give
me any info on this?

Just a couple of thoughts about your current situation with your new amethyst.
First possibly try working with it in combination with a nice piece of Rose Quartz (gentle loving energies – heart chakra) and/or Lepidolite (calming energies – natural lithium in the stone). It could be telling you that you need some work on your heart chakra as Amethyst is a third eye (psychic) crystal. Do you get regular check ups, as it could even be pointing you in a health related direction?
Second, it is quite possible that while you did acquire this Amethyst, it is not actually meant for you to work with. Sometimes we are merely the “mode of transportation” for a crystal to get to its proper human. I have had crystals “jump” out of my hands when I was looking at them (telling me they were not for me) and have also had some “scream” I am for so and so. In each case I listen in the way I need to by either leaving it where it was or acquiring it and getting it to the proper person.
